River Tours

City Tour in double kayaks
– Daily
Starts and finishes 300 metres downstream of Kilkenny Castle, under the castle walls.
Guests paddle easily upstream taking in the peace and tranquillity of the river Nore, passing along the castle weir, Kilkenny Castle, St Johns bridge, the Carnegie Library and former Smithwick’s Brewery and up towards Greens Bridge with a view of St Canice’s Cathedral.
- Learn some of Kilkenny’s history, spot wildlife including ducks, swans and perhaps an otter or kingfisher flitting along the bank.
- Make an easy trip back downstream and get photos of yourselves with Kilkenny Castle in the background.
- This trip can be taken without special clothing. We will provide over-trousers, a jacket and buoyancy aid along with a double kayak and paddle.
Tours will run at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm.

Wild Kilkenny Natural History
This 6km tour is once Weekly Wednesdays.
This tour runs once weekly on Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm and starts from the Bleach Road weir, north west of the city, finishing below Kilkenny Castle, taking in some 6km of the Nore and 3 small weirs. It is a downstream tour and you will leave a change of clothes at the finish point downstream of Kilkenny Castle below the city centre.
Suitable for people of all experience we take you down the lovely river Nore over weirs, slides and flatwater. Participants take part in double kayaks or canoes and we provide all the safety equipment. You will need to have shoes that can get wet and a wetsuit would be preferable if you have one.

Kilkenny to Bennetsbridge Tour
This 10km tour is organised on request or may be posted as a bookable event on occasions.
It’s a 4 hour trip with picnic break and a wonderful family or group trip.
